Shauna’s First Tooth

“When the first grandchild gets her first tooth its a big event in the family,
and this is how it happened.”

I have this little tenderness, a sore spot on my gum
And I’ve been a little cranky – not too cheerful with my Mom.

I wanted to be happy but I didn’t feel so good,
There’s something in there I can feel – I’d move it if! could.

My tongue keeps trying to push it out – I try with all my might,
That little hard thing in my gum is stuck in very tight!

One day I drank from Daddy’s glass, I like to share his meals,
It makes me think I’m grown up and oh, how nice that feels!

And when I drank from Daddy’s glass we heard a little “clink”.
I didn’t know what happened but Mommy seemed to think

There was something in my mouth now that she really had to see
And Daddy was excited too and smiling down at me.

They both looked in and laughed with joy as they found out the truth
And glowed with pride as they announced, “Our Shauna has a tooth!”
