Marriage
“A friend asked me to write a poem for a class she was teaching on family relationships. I was glad she motivated me to write it as I may not have done it otherwise. My husband, Graham, is also glad I wrote it. ”
When my groom and I exchanged our rings,
Life floated high on gossamer wings.
There was no thought of mundane things.
How I loved him!
The challenges for man and wife
To make success of daily life
Are oft times touched with stress and strife,
But I love him.
We solve our problems one by one;
As well as work there’s also fun.
For me there’s ever only one,
And I love him.
He’s given me my seven sons,
How precious are those little ones.
But the work I do is measured in tons!
But I love him.
He’s always there when I need a friend,
My forever partner to the end.
With ever a helping hand to lend.
And I love him.
He’s faithful and true and puts up with me,
As I strive to become what I want to be.
As I struggle for goals that I can’t quite see.
And I love him.
Now Eternity is a long, long time,
Perfection too, seems an endless climb,
But I’m glad I’ve got that man of mine
And I love him.
